Christian Tennis Missionary and Pro Player, Melody Snelen, Comforted by Nigerian Youth After Match Loss

International Christian Tennis Association’s ICTA Women’s Pro Tennis Team captain, Melody Snelen, journeyed with ICTA Outreach to Benin City, Africa for a 2 tournament, 3 week outreach.

In her main draw match of the first tournament, Melody lost to the eventual tournament finalist. The match was close and intense. A large crowd of Nigerians filled the national stadium.

After the match, Melody was in tears and went to be by herself. As she was crying, local youth came to comfort her. She wasn’t crying because she lost, as much as she was crying because of the intensity of the moment.

I like this picture because it shows the heart of Nigeria. Nigerians are among the most amazing people in the world. Their hearts are as big as their smiles. They are the pride of Africa.

And these children will be forever Melody’s kids.

God bless,

Scott Paschal

  1. Hi, I’m a UK expat working in the oil business here in Lagos, Nigeria, and learning tennis at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club. I am trying to help some talented Nigerian tennis players to play tournaments and also have coaching here in Lagos and Abuja, the capital. One is Kehinde Alade who did quite well as a junior (ITF international 500-780 range), which you can verify. There are so many talented players here. If I can assist in any way, please let me know,

    Regards,
